Vodafone starts its UK 3G switch off in February 2023 in Plymouth and Basingstoke and the rest of the country by the end of 2023 so it can focus on strengthening its 4G and 5G networks.
You may have seen in the news that all UK networks have committed to closing their 3G networks.
3G is a technology that Vodafone started to deploy in the early 2000s, becoming the main way its customers got data on their mobiles, even as recently as 2013. Now, thanks to a massive investment in 4G and 5G, 3G is ready to retire.
